    Mind Body Medicine at Portland State University [MBMPSU] provides practical opportunities for integrating mind body medicine into your life, career, and the world. We do this by developing events and publications for you to connect with others and learn about the science of Mind Body Medicine.

    Mind Body Medicine (MBM) focuses on the interactions among the brain, mind, body, and behavior, and on the powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social, and behavioral factors directly affect health. (National Institute of Health)

    • Be on a committee (marketing, visiting lecturer, newsletter)

September 1st, 2009 at 01:00 PM – September 1st, 2009 at 02:00 PM | Health Begins on the Plate: Eating Right for the Fall

Find out about the foods that promote health during the fall months. Learn how to identify and choose your vegetables and other ingredients wisely. OCOM’s resident medicinal food expert will provide a cooking demonstration and an explanation of how the ingredients promote health and wellness.

Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) is partnering with the Portland Classical Chinese Garden to offer ongoing public seminars about traditional Chinese medicine. These events take place at the Garden, located at 239 NW Everett in Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown. Seminars are open to the public and included in the price of admission to the Garden.

Experience Asian culture in Portland’s historic Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood. Located at NW Third and Davis, hours are Saturday, noon – 10:00 PM and Sunday, noon – 6:00 PM. The Dragon Moon Festival is FREE to the public.

The Festival Streets will include four stages of entertainment:

  • Main Stage will feature cultural acts and bands.
  • Culinary Stage presents cooking demonstrations showcasing Asian cuisine.
  • The child-friendly Family Stage transforms into the Karaoke Stage on Saturday afternoons, where audience members can become “the star” attraction.
  • InnovAsian & Technology Plaza (Sundays only) features anime, car audio, break dancing, technology, Olympic-level table tennis and more.

June 11th | 6 pm- 8:30 am| An Evening with the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM): Bringing Healing to the Heart of the City |Portland Classical Chinese Gardens |

OCOM will be bringing the various therapies of traditional Chinese medicine to the beautiful Portland Classical Chinese Garden in Old Town/Chinatown. Participants will have opportunities to experience acupuncture, Chinese herbs, massage and qigong. OCOM’s resident medicinal food expert will cook up samples of her favorite summer dish. Representatives of the research department, Office of Admissions and college administration will also be available to answer questions.
This event it free and open to the public.  We hope you can join us!

Come enjoy u-pick lavender in the city (just $6 per bunch or 2 bunches for $10) and tour the ACHS Botanical Teaching Garden and Shop in the Apothecary Shoppe. Sherwood Lavender Farm.

This event is the highlight of ACHS’s on-campus events. We’ll study essential oil distillation, making lavender wands, lavender recipes, and other ways to use lavender in your daily life.

This event is open to the public, so bring a friend and join us for the afternoon!
